A Reconstruction of Supper at Emmaus, 1601
My reconstruction of Caravaggio’s 1601 The Supper at Emmaus from the National Gallery of Art London was my second copy of a painting by the master. This painting was created using 100% historical pigments matching those used in the original. In addition to the colours, the preparation of the linen, the primer, and the layered painting technique are all consistent with technical analysis of this painting specifically and of Caravaggio’s contemporary works as provided by museum art conservators. To learn more about the materials and techniques of this painting as well as its theological symbolism and my own spiritual journey ‘on the road to Emmaus’ please read my blog post.
