Saint Charbel

A new icon of St. Charbel Makhlouf, a Lebanese Maronite Monk and miracle-working saint. It is oil paint and 24k gold leaf on panel. This was a private commission. The technique used for the angels and the saint’s name in Arabic in this painting is called sgraffito, where the paint is scraped away to reveal gold leaf underneath which catches the light from different angles.
