Saint Veronica Giuliani

An original oil painting of Saint Veronica Giuliani, 1660-1727. A Capuchin Poor Clare nun and Abbess at Citta di Castello in Umbria, a mystic, and stigmatist, this great saint is surprisingly little known today but devotion to her is on the rise. I painted her with the stigmata and the crown of thorns which she mystically received and embracing the Cross that she loved. This image portrays a moment in her spiritual life when her heart was inscribed with symbols of the Passion of Jesus.

Saint Veronica Giuliani, oil on linen, 2025, 16 by 20 inches, private collection.
